3 3/4 C. all purpose flour
1/2 t. baking soda
1/2 t. cream of tartar
1 C. butter
2 C. Sugar
2 eggs
1/4 C. milk
1 t. vanilla
3 T. sugar
1 t. cinnamon (mix and set last two ingredients aside)

t.: teaspoon T. tablespoon
Cream butter and sugar (will be grainy) add eggs beat till smooth and fluffy. Add milk & vanilla and beat well. Mix all dry ingredients together (I usually sift them too). Add dry ingredients to butter mixture 1/2 at a time, mix in well. Chilll dough for about 1/2 hour ( I usually skip this part)
Form dough into balls (I usually do them about the size of marbles, but you can do them bigger..but not too big) Roll each ball into the sugar cinnamon mixture you set aside (till coated) Place on lightly greasted cookie sheet, about 2 inches apart. Bake 375 for about 8-10 min. or till golden.

You can experiement with these a bit..if you cook them longer, they get crisp..but you can pull them out earlier and they will have puffed and still be softish. Try each tray differently. They puff a bit when you cook em, then as they cool, they 'fall' and get little crinkles along the top.
