Gas running out, gas prices running up

That was the headline on the local newspaper's website yesterday afternoon. " Jackson County Sheriff John McDaniel said residents shouldn’t panic about the rise in gas prices, or about the apparent shortage of gas sweeping Jackson County Friday." Apparently Panama City was out of gas by yesterday afternoon. And prices in PC were at $5.50/gal yesterday.

The reason being, "Wholesale gasoline prices on the Gulf Coast moved even further into uncharted territory to around $4.85 a gallon, as refineries anticipated that Ike would prompt at least a significant pause in their operations, and at worst, severe damage to their facilities. "

Chris went to get gas yesterday afternoon in prep for mowing at the farm today and they would only let him have 25 gallons. They told him the price would be $5.00 a gallon today. Thankfully, I had filled up a couple of days ago.

The news is saying the refineries weren't damaged, they are without power though, so maybe the price won't go too high. What a rip off! I do wish there were a viable alternative to oil!

It was 3.49 on Thursday night..and then on Friday it was 4.65! .....

Mom was telling me about that. She said everyone was freaking out over the hurricanes, and with the refineries shut down prices had shot up an entire dollar in like two days. I don't know if it'll affect NY, but just in case, I got gas yesterday. It was still $3.67 at the cheapest location. I'm hoping things get back to normal soon. NY charges A LOT in taxes, and our prices are normally at LEAST 20 cents more than you guys back home. I don't think I could handle that much.
