PostSubject: Rest in Peace   Tue Dec 09, 2008 7:44 pm

So, I have a little sad news to report. Iris passed away today at approximately 5:30PM. Over the past couple of weeks, she's seemed a little under the weather, but nothing too major. I had already been making plans to take her to the vet for a check-up today when she began vomiting. I got her in to see the vet only to discover that she had an extremely aggressive tumor on her spleen. The vet wasn't sure whether she would make it until morning, because she was rapidly getting weaker. I opted to take her home until I could talk to Niel about what should be done. When Niel arrived home from work, it was pretty obvious she wouldn't last much longer, so we called the vet about having her put down. We were on our way back to the vet's office, and she died in Niel's arms in the car. I don't think she'd have had it any other way. Fortunately, she didn't seem to be in too much pain, she just seemed very tired. It's tough to lose her, especially right before Christmas, but it will be alright.

She was a good dog, and she will be missed.

Aiden was pretty clueless last night, but I think he's getting the idea this morning. He seems to be looking for her. He keeps sniffing the clothes that Niel wore last night when we carried her back to the vet. I just hope he copes alright. Iris has been his constant companion since the night Sage brought him to our house.

*Sniffle*

No more Iris stories.

Sad

But, she's still with you in spirit, I'm sure.

This one crossed the bridge in '1994.
She still comes to visit.
