PostSubject: Quilting- break out the gear   Mon Nov 10, 2008 2:54 am

Okay so I have a friend who has inspired me to break out the sewing machine and start quilting... sorry i'm not doing it by hand. Either way, that's my plan for christmas gifts for close family since we're not purchasing gifts this year. Only kids are getting gifts and they may get blankets as well depends on how froggy I am feeling once I start my first one.

I want a patriotic theme for the quilts since well that's what I want! LOL

Do any of you guys have suggestions, or quilting patterns I can use to make a patriotic quilt/throw blanket? I need help getting the measurement sizes down and such so they look nice.

Thanks guys!!

A basic nine patch is one of the easiest patterns to use.
Do a search for 'free quilt patterns' and you'll find LOADS!!!!

What is the final size you're wanting..start there.

well i want 1 queen size quilt and the rest should be throw blankets... but that's as far as i have gotten. i just get confused when reading the instructions for some of the free patterns i've found. Eh. i am headed to look for discount fabric tomorrow. gonna start looking for my basic red white and blue with a printed list. but it's a little overwhelming.

Either way, I am doing things like i normally do- just jumping in Smile
